MATH · EARLY CHILDHOOD

Teach math that works with EMAT Early Childhood

EMAT Early Childhood is the hands-on, experiential math program designed to develop logical-mathematical thinking in children ages 3 to 6 through integrated learning situations. EMAT builds deep conceptual understanding and maintains methodological continuity into primary and secondary school.

PEDAGOGICAL FOUNDATIONS

The math you've always wanted to teach

Activities that prepare students for everyday challenges, starting from realistic problems that let them apply their knowledge and skills.

EMAT offers multilevel activities and resources, review and self-assessment sessions, and an adaptable sequence to make sure no student is left behind.

The program includes a wide variety of materials and resources that make lessons dynamic, practical, and exciting, helping students build abstract reasoning.

EMAT’s curriculum plan connects the competency strands from early childhood through secondary school, ensuring continuity in students’ learning.

EMAT provides tools for holistic, ongoing, and formative assessment, including observation indicators, tests, self-assessments, portfolios, and competency rubrics.

Technology is an ally in EMAT: it complements math lessons with online spaces and adaptive learning platforms such as CiberEMAT.

Meaningful learning starts with a solid foundation

CORE PILLARS

Mathematical thinking in early childhood education

From a very young age, children often show strong mathematical intuition that helps them grasp basic concepts before they learn formal mathematical language. As they explore the world and solve everyday problems, they develop an intuitive understanding of number relationships, patterns, and shapes. This early intuition lays the foundation for learning mathematical language later on.

The mathematical areas around which we’ve organized the program’s learning, and which are developed in early childhood, are:

  • Number sense

Speaking games and activities to structure language.

  • Reasoning

Speaking games and activities to structure language.

  • Spatial orientation

Speaking games and activities to structure language.

  • Visual perception

Speaking games and activities to structure language.

  • Geometry

Speaking games and activities to structure language.

  • Measurement
