Essential math knowledge workbooks for supporting diverse learners
The new essential knowledge workbooks included in the EMAT program give teachers a flexible tool for reinforcing key math learning. Here’s how to introduce them effectively to boost student autonomy and motivation, especially when supporting diverse learners.
A resource designed to support every learning pace
Today’s classrooms bring together students with different learning paces and needs. In this context, having materials that adapt to that diversity is essential. The new essential knowledge workbooks were created for exactly that purpose: to offer accessible, structured, and motivating support that lets each student progress at their own pace.
The collection includes five workbooks—place value, addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division—covering the key number sense content in elementary school. Each one brings together the fundamental knowledge every student needs to master to understand basic operations and apply them to problem solving.
This knowledge is presented as a sequence of minimum learning goals for all of elementary school, so each workbook follows a progressive, coherent order, helping students first consolidate essential concepts and then take on more complex content.
Designed with accessibility criteria and metacognition prompts, the worksheets promote understanding and autonomy, especially for students with special educational needs (SEN), thanks to their clear structure and visual language.

A progressive sequence of essential knowledge
The content in each workbook is organized progressively, moving from simple to complex. The focus is on learning strategies based on standard algorithms, with the supports needed to ensure understanding and autonomy.
These workbooks are part of an overall sequence of essential minimum learning goals throughout elementary school, ensuring the continuity and coherence of number sense and basic operations development.
Although the materials are especially designed for students with SEN, their inclusive approach makes them a useful tool for all students. It’s the teacher who, in line with the student’s Individualized Work Plan, chooses which knowledge to work on at each point, adapting it to the needs and goals of the group or student.
These worksheets don’t replace classroom learning through hands-on activities; instead, they should be built into a teaching sequence as one more support.
How to read the activities and icons in the workbook
In these pages, you’ll find activities designed to help students better understand math. The following icons tell students what they need to do in each one.

These icons help students work more independently, better understand concepts, and follow clear strategies during activities, always with the teacher’s supervision and support when needed.
One more step toward personalized education
With the essential knowledge workbooks, tekman Education reaffirms its commitment to more inclusive, equitable, and personalized education. These materials help teachers support each student through their learning process, ensuring that everyone has access to fundamental knowledge and can progress with understanding and confidence.
Our elementary language arts programs, Ludiletras and Superletras, also offer a collection of language arts workbooks with the same focus on accessibility and personalization.
